Is Technology an answer for regular classes during agitations?

Recently I have meet few youth group which includes final year engineering and graduation students and few final years’ Intermediate students. All of them were worried about one major issue that is of incompletion of syllabus due to lack of regular classes because of Telangana agitation for separate statehood. This is not just the problem of college students but also with school children especially the 10th class students who have board exams. This is creating a problem for them in preparing for competitive exams like GRE, GMAT, IIT, AIEEE, MBBS and also applying for foreign university and in preparing for campus interviews.

I am not here discussing whether the agitation is right or wrong but I am thinking how we can have regular or at least few classes even when the colleges are closed due to agitation.

There is one answer to this problem i.e. “TECHNOLOGY”. We just need one computer with a speaker, web cam and an internet connection. Professor of the college can take classes in his house or behind the close doors of colleges.

1. He/she can deliver the lecture live, where all the students in their respective homes/cyber cafes can listen to class and interaction can take place and if a student has a doubt he can clarify it online.
2. He/she can record the lecture and post it on You Tube. Here the student can clarify his doubt by writing comments and later it can be clarified.
3. Online classes cost nothing extra for college/school management as there are many service providers who provide it free of cost.
4. It is certainly affordable for students as well. They just have to pay 10-15rs for an hour in the cyber cafe. In fact majority of them will be having internet in their home.

It is all up to the school/college leader to take this kind of decision and think creatively on how better we can use the technology. It is no point in starting a technology college when we don’t know how the technology can be used for better learning of the students.

  1. Hey Hrishi Hope u r doing gud !!
I appreciate you for taking time in posting use full blogs.

Hey got some concerns over the blog,

    1. Availability of Resources - I hope we are talking about the Inst in which majority of the students cant afford to use the techno classes by using a computer or any alternative resource.

    2. Freedom of Participation - No institution can compel the student or in fact any individual who would intend to participate in the agitation and might not participate in the techno class.

    3. Accountability - Even if one student was not able to participate in the class Inst will have to take the class for sure and cannot except him/her for not participating.

    4. Teaching Methodology - And we have to think over on the teaching systems in India which has already got enough comments, and we expect the techno class where student is far off will be able to understand the content taught.

    5. Well educating is a whole lot dynamic involved and not just dumping the content which is in text book or papers onto board or may be emails by techno class, it may involve examples, clarification, demonstrations, practicals,,,,,,,,etc.

And so on to comment about that.....

But i would not just want to sign out by commenting but would like to add to the blog that..

    1. Wages - Most of the Inst haven't paid their admn/ teaching staff for the holidays on the agitation days. instead conducted classes on alternate days and exempting the holidays on the scheduled holidays and put in efforts at least in completing the syllabus.

    2. statistics - Hrishi its gr8 that u have taken efforts in collecting some stats relating to blog, if possible I request you to collect some stats on the diff between the Private/ Govt Inst of any i mean school, college etc any,,,
and compare in the syllabus completed on date, students pass %
as we expect the private inst take all initiatives in completing the syllabus as parents/ students have already paid enough $$$$. but i wonder there would be any dept to monitor the inst in ensuring them sticking to the time frame.

Well Hrishi again i appreciate in taking time in writing use full blogs,

    Takecare Bye...
    Keep posting..
